My first act as your Solicitor General was to create a Victim Witness Assistance Program to give every victim and witness a voice in the judicial process and to keep every victim informed of their rights. SERVICES PROVIDED BY OUR VICTIM ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The following services are free of charge to all crime victims and witnesses:

INFORMATION about the status of your court case via letters, emails and phone calls.

NOTICE of court proceedings, including changes of court dates and times.

INFORMATION and explanation about criminal proceedings.

ORIENTATION to the courtroom setting.

COMPANION to attend court with you and provide emotional support.

ASSISTANCE with applying for financial compensation for victims of violent crime.

EMPLOYER INTERVENTION to explain time missed from work due to required court appearances.

PRIVATE WAITING AREA prior to your court appearance.

AID in retrieving items after trial that are being held by law enforcement as evidence.

ASSISTANCE and PROTECTION if you are intimidated, harassed or afraid.

ADVOCACY AND SUPPORT with any problems that you may be having as a result of the crime itself or court appearances.

REFERRAL to social service agencies, counselors and others who can assist you.

We Need You to Become a Volunteer Victim’s Advocate!!!

Would you like to volunteer as a victim’s advocate in the Solicitor General’s Office? If so, come by the Solicitor General’s office today to obtain an application and enroll in our next scheduled Victim Advocate’s Training Program.

Our volunteer victim advocates must pass a back ground check and complete a certified training program to become a certified volunteer victim’s advocate.
